Because lawmakers expect that the omnibus will be the last major bill passed out of Congress ahead of the 2018 midterms, many are scrambling to hitch their own bills to the wagon—trying and so far failing to include policies tackling Capitol Hill sexual harassment, implementing an online sales tax, and addressing the status of 700,00-plus immigrant “Dreamers” living in legal limbo.

They’re almost as much fun as trade wars!

My prediction…the tunnel will be cut out, there will be no DACA deal, there will be no CSR deal, there will be no amendment to protect Mueller and there certainly won’t be any gun legislation.

And it will then pass relatively easily. Neither side on any of these issues has much stomach for fighting over an appropriations bill in March, ahead of the midterms. And neither side, for the same reason, has any interest in flirting with a shutdown.

The GOP will claim a victory because of the massive increase in defense spending. Democrats will claim a victory because of increases in domestic spending.

Meanwhile, the deficit will explode in a manner that will make W. blush, especially once the country starts rolling into a recession. But the recession won’t start to be noticed until 2019…after the GOP loses the House.

It’s March 21. Seven and a half months before the midterms. That’s a long time for a paid leave of absence when there remain a few things to do. But…priorities. Gotta raise millions, kiss the donors’ butts, and make a lot of attack ads.

“This is probably one of the most needed public works projects for the whole Eastern corridor, from Maine to Virginia,” Schumer told reporters Tuesday. “If those tunnels fail, we’ll have a recession not just in the northeast but a national recession.”

This was appropriated and ready to go back in the 00’s, but Gov. Chris Christie (R-Despised) killed it.

Speaking of “danger zone”, the Guardian has consolidated their coverage of Cambridge Analytica into a single grouping. And Carole Cadwalladr, despite the lawsuit, seems to be back on the Mercer trail.

Those are some very dark predictions, and I am afraid I agree with all of them. The 2 most devastating impacts are the further degradation of the ACA and the steaming pile of garbage being made out of DACA in particular and immigration as a whole. Meanwhile the country hangs on the words of a pornstar’s lawyer and moves past all of the important issues in the daily deluge of Trumpnews (the latest antics of our reality start president).

The only things getting passed (tax welfare for the ultra rich, military spending beyond the Pentagon’s request, dismantling of already weak financial regulation) are the things the wealthy donors want passed and we continue to think we are actually living in a democracy where the “will of the people” has some actual meaning.

Everything Trump touches turns to shit.

Add all the information/research that every Federal Department has amassed over decades being deleted by the pinheads who have been put in charge. Shit quickly degrades into useful building blocks for future life forms, in the REAL world. In the world we’re being dragged into by these throwback dicks, it just piles up.

And just as easy to win, if not more so.

Unbelievable. The GOP has no idea how to actually govern, they only know how to oppose. Trump is an idiot who has no business in the White House, yet McConnell and Ryan refuse to stand up to him. We are in deep doo-doo here, folks. On a more optimistic note, Politico reports that there may be a few signs of compromise. One can only hope.

The odious Hyde Amendment needs to be repealed, not expanded into the private sector. It was bad enough what we had to do in terms of hampering abortion rights to pass the ACA.
