Discussion: Coats On Trump: ‘Obviously, I Wished He Had Made A Different Statement’

Relax. He’s just coming to personally escort Browder and McFaul to Russia.

Can you imagine what Coats says in private about this idiot?

He seemed pretty much on Team America.

Edit: And not at all enamoured with Putin. Not at all.

They’re in full cover-up mode at this point. Not even hiding it. Need to meet in person with no one else around to talk through logistics.

So, of course inner me wants him to openly trash his boss and tell the truth about how he really feels, but I know he’s probably making the right call here. If you actually take your job seriously there’s a game you have to play, and it’s a delicate balance, after a certain point 100% of appointees who don’t play his game end up getting forced out before too long. If he didn’t have the political cover from Republicans (weak as it is) he probably couldn’t have even gone this far.

Wasn’t in the room.

In another TPM post, it’s reported that he said, “Say that again.”

Doesn’t really change the tone of his reaction though.

Admittedly, I’m not a student of Trump’s upbringing. The strong impression I get, though, is that his parents never held him truly accountable for his actions. But the real mystery is that he’s never had to account for his actions as an adult, either.

I’ve said this before, but I was stunned when he said, on CBN of all places, that he’s never felt the need to ask God for forgiveness. One’s belief in God (or lack of same) is irrelevant in this instance: to have never felt the need to acknowledge that you have caused pain to someone else and ask that person to forgive you–somehow, that was/is all right with people??

I still think it’s funny that he said that (and in public).

Now there are going to be several shoes continusly dropping from this and each one will say a lot about the lie that precedes it.

it also says a lot that Coats is basically clueless, as it relates to this and his headache ait going away soon.

When Putin grabbed Crimea, Coats was among a group of legislators pushing Obama to react con rigor. The Kremlin retaliated by placing said legislators on a list of personae non grata.

He said something about Trump coming in from the outside (doesn’t know how things are supposed to work), but the real problem for Coats and others is that Trump doesn’t ask all these people for advice before making a decision.

Can’t really blame those that are trying to do their jobs for the decisions he does make. Who’s going to stop him? Not the republicans.

One more time, it’s going to say a lot about this timeline, if folks are still cool with these abnormal hijinks.

“That’s not my job. So it is what it is,” he said…

Wow. The pinnacle of patriotism ready to save America and Democracy from fascism. Wow.

no, dan, trump did not clarify. he was paddled unmercifully (as he so deserved) and came up with the dog ate my homework excuse. then he re-muddied the water with more throwaway lines. the clarification must have been hiding in the collusion.
