Discussion: Flake: If Trump Fires Mueller, Only Remedy Is 'Through Impeachment'

That’ll take guts, something Congress is shamefully lacking.

We would get to see who is a patriot and who is a traitor.

If Trump continues to be a raving, twitter-craved loony with delusions of grandeur and no capacity to govern. The only remedy is impeachment.

Oh please. Flake has all the guts of a squad of jellyfish.

No one wants that outcome?

Got at least one right here Flake my boy. Sooner the better. For all of us.

Gee, it’s too bad you are not part of some sort of co-equal branch of Gov. or such.

One that could pass something like say—a law—that would prevent Mueller from being fired.

You are all talk and no action.

In short, a fraud.

Normally I would say, since I am known for my unapologetically foul mouth - and mostly admired for it, actually, since it seems to make up slightly for the deficiency of my intellect - to Jeff Flake, “Blow Me!!”, but I do not, in a thousand years, want that skanky man ho anywhere near my private parts.
Just go away, Jeff, you phony POS. You are as useless as a hair brush is to Donald Trump - a man, by the way, that you enthusiastically supported a great majority of the time. Asshole.

Technically, Trump can’t fire Mueller: the man currently overseeing Mueller’s Russia probe, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, would do it for him. Then again, the President has repeatedly shown he isn’t one for rules.

Whoa whoa whoa. TPM needs better boilerplate language than that. “he isn’t one for rules”??? While true, that’s not at all accurate. By my understanding, the only way trump fires Mueller is to go the exact same route President Nixon did 46 years ago – trump instructs Rosenstein to fire Mueller for him (as the TPM article stated), but then when Rosenstein refuses, trump fires Rosenstein and keeps asking people down the chain until one complies. It took Nixon 3 people, but trump would have to go further down the chain than that. ETA: After all, Watergate didn’t have 19 indictments, let alone any guilty pleas at the time of the Saturday Night Massacre.

I do not want Donald Trump impeached.
I want that motherfucker dragged away in chains, sent to Guantanamo Bay, and eating two scoops of rat turds for dessert every night.

Don’t worry, Flakey, your Turtle-boss has said there’s no reason to protect Mueller. So all must be well, unless, you know, mitch is a bald-faced lying criminal idiot who could be outsmarted by a trump.

Constitution safe! Feel free to crawl back under your rock and vote for his whole agenda now.

Pull the other one, Jeff.

Pretending this may not be all grand theater for our viewing pleasure, this is beginning to look like the GOP caught in a nuclear explosion running in slow motion.

At this rate, we will find out there is a donkey bar in Tijuana that has an NDA they want to break. The donkey wants to tell its story.

I can’t imagine at this point that he is going to find anyone who will do it. It’s an Obstruction of Justice, they know it, and Trump is not Nixon and not even close.

At least Nixon acted like a fucking president until the bitter end. And in today’s terms, not as bad a president as he seemed then.

This is flake’s way of saying he’s against any law that would further protect special counsels from firing.

I know these folks are dumb, but surely they’re aware of what happened the last time a president got in this kind of hot water. From history.com’s description of Watergate:

The ensuing political scandal would ultimately destroy the presidency of Richard Nixon, send 40 people to jail and shatter the American public’s faith in government.

Wouldn’t that be the ultimate indignity – for trump to end up firing a dozen people down the chain at DOJ and still come empty, without a single one willing to pull the trigger for his political hit job?

Or it would demonstrate to Trump sycophants just how deep the “Deep State” is that Trump had to go to that extreme.

Yup and I really think the probability of that is high. They do know about Watergate and they do know what can happen and who wants to commit suttee for Trump? He’s a miserable bastard in the first place.

This weekend, if Trump wants to “win” the news cycle, he is going to need something big. 60 Minutes will be airing an interview with a porn star talking about (or perhaps only nearly talking about) a sex scandal involving the current occupant of the White House. That is going to be tough to top. I don’t think a government shutdown would do it, but maybe firing Mueller would. Does he dare? He says that he is feeling emboldened, and the Republicans certainly aren’t acting as if they are going to do anything to reign him in.

No. Actually jellyfish don’t get involved.
He may be a squid. But he is NOT a jelly fish.
Give credit where credit is due. He said something.
