Earlier today before the Bannon news broke, Chuck Todd (who was being interviewed by someone else) said that GOP sources admitted that they hope Mueller has evidence that is so compelling that the Republicans will have to help get rid of Trump. While they may be cowards in public, clearly they know that Trump is a disaster for their party.
