Discussion: Trump Goes After NYT Reporter By Name In Latest Round Of Morning Tweets

Which just makes his pride in creation that much more adorable. I bet it kills him that he can’t blink us all into the cornfield.

Saying he considers the Supreme Court appointment an accomplishment is damning himself with faint praise. It was as easy and pre-ordained as picking the color of the Oval Office drapes. Let’s talk about how he was going to crush ISIS within thirty days (with his secret plan!) or grow the economy 6 percent every year for a decade.

Warren Buffet said last week they were going to pass “something”.
I think he’s got something there.
The code will never be rewritten or "reform"ed.
But a pretty small cut, carved down by the Pete Peterson crowd in and out of Congress , will go through with vague promises about next year.
The hit to the stocks across the board will be max 7%, thus indistinguishable with a number of recent pullbacks.
As long as there’s a feeling that the tax rates will be lower next year, some selling will be postponed until after the first, by that time who knows what conditions will be in the global markets?

They still have the Freedumb Caucus problem. I’m betting they fail.

Whatever probability of failure exists is due to a genuine belief of the Freedumberers that they’ll be primaried. Perhaps direct bribery will be required to peel enough of them off. They don’t need them all.
If it fails, I can stand it.
ETA-Perhaps some of the Freedumberers are just holding out to be bought off.

Mueller investigation, the ultimate reslution of taxcuts (doesn’t matter if they pass or not) and substantial completion of the primary process in the spring. The Rep party will want to save their hides at that point.

Whether or not Donald is a co-conspirator is irrelevant. The only thing holding mainstream R support in place is the prospect of getting taxcuts and a primary threat. Take those two things away and the 25th amendment happens.

Didn’t the NYT just change the social media policy for its reporters? Donnie is going after someone whose hands are tied, just like the cowardly bully he is.

So much for Trump’s love of coal. From Reuters: Coal plant closures continue even as U.S. ends 'Clean Power Plan’

Unfortunately, the Republican-led Congress refused to authorize the TPP, and President Trump at the beginning of his term killed what was arguably a masterful piece of diplomacy and statecraft.

And his insulting, punishing and humiliating attempt to “renegotiate” NAFTA with Mexico and Canada is turning into a clusterf#ck with all kinds of poison pills and a demand for a five-year sunset clause.

And today, we see that 21 international trade deals involving major economies are being ratified or in serious negotiations – and the US, to its detriment, is a party to none of them.

The America First people and some on the Left seem unaware that we are in competition with other economies, and if we threaten to tear up trade deals, or deal with our trade partners dismissively or callously, they will simply find favorable trade agreements with other partners.

Also, I predict the Trump administration is not going to achieve a major breakthrough in reforming NAFTA.

Why? Because they have little to offer Mexico and Canada.
In contrast, President Obama’s negotiating team was able to:

• Get Canada and Mexico to renegotiate NAFTA in exchange for increased access to the the Asia-Pacific Rim, the fastest-growing region in the world;

• Persuade protectionist economies to open up their agricultural, automotive, professional services, and financial sectors to foreign competition in order to provide American workers and exporters a level playing field; and

• Convince moderately authoritarian regimes to agree to liberalize their societies and “globalize” human and labor rights by outlawing human trafficking, forced and child labor and other human rights violations in exchange for favorable trade conditions, by raising environmental and labor standards; and by allowing labor unions and a free, open and unrestricted Internet — all as part of the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership.

You appear to believe that they haven’t. But they have. You appear to believe that Peter Baker misrepresented the record. But he didn’t.

Great post on a great New York Times article. The only thing missing in both is to call trump the racist white man he is. When the North Korean leader is the voice of reason in the room, it should be a wake up call to republicans that we here are headed for a crisis that could lead us where no one wants to go, war with ourselves. We have done this before so it should come as no big surprise.
