I don’t think he’s exactly afraid of him so much as he admires him and wants to emulate him. Putting out the notion that he’s afraid though may induce him to stand up to Putin in some minor way so as to maintain his delusion that he is tough & strong.
Putin’s yoyo Trump is our President. And we have nothing to fear because Putin is such a wonderful man.

According to the second tweet, he was quoting Alan Dershowitz. Which explains the big words and coherent grammar (even if one doesn’t agree with the content…).

Trump the “whinestigator.”
Brennan has been on something of a rampage lately, as if his hair is on fire. And there’s probably nobody who knows more than he about where the bodies are buried. As ex-CIA Director, he’s well acquainted with Putin, Lavrov, Kislyak, and the Russian oligarchs. He knows their goals, their strategy, and their tactics. And he knows Trump is compromised. Just a matter of time before we hear all the sordid, despicable, traitorous details.
It no longer matters why or even if Putin “has something” on Trump or whether Trump colluded. Those things might provide an evidentiary basis that would give more people the proof they need to accept that Trump is compromised, but even if the truth is that he can’t bring himself to criticize Putin because he embodies everything Trump wants for himself, the point is, Trump is compromising United States interests by failing to stand up to Putin and Russia.
It also has a significant Freudian slip when he consistently refers to Mueller as the Special Council. Larger than life, Mueller commands the fear and respect usually reserved for a group of people. So says the man with a very good brain and the best words.

If he is afraid of Putin due to compromising information, then he has to be equally afraid of Mueller finding the same. One he fawns over, the other he attacks. One wants to own Trump, one wants the truth. Interesting rock and hard place.
Are you saying Brennan is being in some way hesitant or pusillanimous here? Is anyone else? Because I would disagree with that. This is the former head of the C.I.FuckingA. saying he believes the President of the United Fucking States is afraid of Putin and that the Russians might well be blackmailing him and it could be some personal behavior thing. This is the same man who railed just the other day about how Trump will be in the dustbin of history when, among other things, his “moral turpitude” is fully revealed. His direct language and his former position taken together form an absolutely shocking, scathing, and unheard-of denunciation of a sitting President. What more does he need to say?

For the record, I’m thrilled to hear voices of authority speaking out on what seems obvious but is blithely ignored by Dump’s Republican conspirators on the hill.
In Dershowitz’s defense, at least he would know the difference between “council” and “counsel.”
But Dershowitz’s defense ends there. Something has gone wrong with that guy.
I, for one, find it difficult to believe that Dershowitz doesn’t know the difference between a counsel and a council. This is pure Trump overlay.
Of course Dershowitz is going to provide defense and rhetorical cover for Trump. They both spent time raping underage girls together at Jeffrey Epstein’s place in Palm Beach.
